GROUP
ART THERAPY FOR CHILDREN
Therapy to be provided once a week for 60 minutes via zoom.
Creative Expressions Group is divided into three sessions to accommodate working with the school calendar. The group does not start until the end of September to accommodate the registration process to participate in the group. The first session works on the goals of accepting oneself and being with others. The second session works on the goals of warming up to working with others. The final session works on the goals of contacting others in a playful manner. Whenever an art directive is mentioned, it is an example of one to be used. Each week will have a different art directive. There will be a variety of art materials (pencils, chalks, paints, pastels, variety of paper and collage materials, etc.). Warm up art directives or ice breakers will be used at the beginning of each group. Children’s literature will also be used to open the discussion into the topic being addressed. The warmup art directives may involve meditation/guided imagery/working in pairs, etc.
